The South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce Celebrates the 50^th Anniversary of Fleetwood’s Heating & Cooling

South Haven, MI – September 18, 2026- The South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce was pleased to celebrate 50 years of Fleetwood’s Heating & Cooling during a special anniversary celebration recognizing the company’s longstanding connection to Southwest Michigan.

Founded in 1976 by Bill Fleetwood, Fleetwood’s Heating & Cooling began after Bill purchased a truckload of furnaces at auction when he had difficulty finding an affordable and timely replacement for the furnace in his own home. What started as a way to help friends, neighbors, and local families has grown into a third-generation, family-owned business serving residential and commercial customers throughout Southwest Michigan.

Over the past five decades, Fleetwood’s has experienced tremendous growth, along with its share of challenges. One of the most significant moments in the company’s history came in 2011, when a major fire devastated the business and destroyed much of what the Fleetwood family had built over the previous 35 years.

As Tom Fleetwood described it, “It was almost like a rebirth of the business.”

Through difficult times, determination, and perseverance, the Fleetwood family and its employees were able to not only rebuild the decades-old family business but transform it into a larger and stronger heating and cooling company serving communities throughout Southwest Michigan.

Today, Fleetwood’s Heating & Cooling is led by third-generation family members Nick and Makayla Fleetwood alongside their father, Tom Fleetwood, carrying forward the values and work ethic established by Bill Fleetwood 50 years ago.

Fleetwood’s operates from its location on M-43 in Paw Paw, providing heating and cooling repair, installation, replacement, and maintenance services for both residential and commercial customers. The company also maintains a showroom and extensive inventory of HVAC equipment, parts, and materials, allowing Fleetwood’s to serve homeowners, do-it-yourself customers, contractors, and professional crews.

Although the company has grown significantly over the years, the Fleetwood family says the values behind the business have remained much the same: take care of customers, take care of employees, provide honest guidance, stand behind the work, and treat people the way they would want their own family treated.

Fleetwood’s has also maintained a strong connection to the South Haven area throughout its five decades in business. The company continues to serve homeowners and businesses throughout South Haven and the surrounding communities, helping customers stay comfortable through Michigan’s changing seasons.

For the Fleetwood family, being part of Southwest Michigan means more than simply doing business in the area. It means creating local jobs, supporting local organizations and events, building long-term relationships, and being there for the communities that have supported the company for generations.

“We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has supported Fleetwood’s over the last 50 years,” said Nick Fleetwood. “Our employees, customers, families, and communities are the reason we have been able to reach this milestone. A lot has changed since 1976, but our commitment to taking care of people and doing things the right way has remained the same.”

“Fifty years in business is a tremendous milestone, and we’re proud to recognize Fleetwood’s Heating & Cooling for the years of service they have provided to our region,” said Olivia Thompson, Assistant Director of the South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce. “We’re especially happy to celebrate the businesses that have grown alongside the communities they serve, and Fleetwood’s is a great example of that.”

The South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce congratulates Fleetwood’s Heating & Cooling on 50 years in business and looks forward to celebrating many more years of continued service throughout Southwest Michigan.
