The South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce Celebrates the

10th Season and Continued Growth of the Kal-Haven Outpost

South Haven, MI – April 24, 2026- The South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the 10^th season of the Kal-Haven Outpost, recognizing a decade of growth, innovation, and contribution to South Haven’s outdoor hospitality and recreation industry.

Established in 2016 with the vision of offering “a stay for every style,” Kal-Haven Outpost began with six family cabins, 36 tent sites, 20 RV sites, and two vacation homes. Since then, it has steadily expanded to meet increasing demand while staying true to its welcoming, outdoor-focused mission.

Today, the property features 33 tent sites, three glamping tents, a converted school bus stay, six family cabins, four couples’ cabins, 20 full hook-up RV sites, 29 additional partial RV sites currently in progress, two rental RVs, and two vacation homes. Located directly on the Kal-Haven Trail, guests enjoy immediate trail access for biking and hiking, while still being just five miles from downtown South Haven and approximately 3.5 miles from the trailhead.

Recent improvements continue to reflect a strong commitment to both guests and the local community. The addition of a Michigan-based beer and wine license supports a focus on regional offerings, while the on-site store highlights small and locally made businesses, including Café Julia, Decadent Dogs, and Radiant Landscapes Photography.

Expansion continues with 29 new RV sites expected to be completed in June. These back-in sites will include water and power hookups and are designed to provide spacious, comfortable accommodations for RV travelers.

Kal-Haven Outpost is also known for its pet-friendly environment, with all accommodations, including tent sites, welcoming guests traveling with pets. A half-acre dog park adds to the property’s appeal as a destination designed for the whole family.

In addition to lodging, Kal-Haven Outpost hosts a variety of community events that are open to the public. This year’s 10th season celebration includes a Father’s Day anniversary event on June 20 featuring family activities, a Nerf fight, cookout, and bounce house; Christmas in July on July 25 with Santa, site decorating, a potluck, and roast pig dinner; a back-to-school potluck and supply drive on August 15; and Halloween weekends on October 17 and 24 featuring trunk-or-treating, scavenger hunts, barrel rides, food trucks, and family-friendly movies.
