South Haven, MI – July 2, 2025- The South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce happily welcomed Haven Market to the Chamber family with a ribbon cutting celebration at their storefront, located at 500 Phoenix Street.

Located in the heart of downtown South Haven, Haven Market is a thoughtfully curated market focused on offering fresh, local, and affordable food options to the South Haven community and its visitors. The concept grew from a future retirement dream and a deep love for South Haven, which the owners first experienced as vacationers and now as proud home and business owners.

Originally intending to open an Italian deli after purchasing the building from longtime South Haven locals Irene and Carey Wood in Spring 2024, plans quickly shifted when the former business owners did not renew their lease. Rising to meet the moment, the owners pivoted to open Haven Market, a space dedicated to quality, clean eating, and community.

Owner and practicing hospice nurse, Michelle O’Neil, brings a passion for food and wellness to this venture, believing strongly in the power of food as medicine. “There are so many options beyond packaged junk food. Michigan produces an abundance of clean and organic food, and supporting our local farmers and artisans is very important to us,” Michelle shared. “A healthy body is priceless.”

Haven Market’s mission is rooted in community and connection. They proudly source 75% of their inventory from Michigan-made products and emphasize collaboration with local farmers and artisans.
