The South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce Welcomes New Member

South Haven LGBTQ+ Advocacy

South Haven, MI – May 29, 2025- The South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce was pleased to welcome new Chamber member South Haven LGBTQ+ Advocacy to the Chamber with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Founded on a commitment to visibility, inclusion, and community-building, South Haven LGBTQ+ Advocacy was inspired by the lived experiences of its founder, Trent Morgan. Growing up in South Haven, Trent witnessed firsthand the need for safe, affirming spaces, which inspired him to take action and support the LGBTQ+ community.

Trent’s advocacy journey includes volunteering with The Trevor Project’s Crisis Line and engaging with local leaders to create safer, more inclusive environments for LGBTQ+ youth. Collaborating with community members, he helped launch South Haven Pride, the city’s first LGBTQ+ celebration, which confirmed the power of collective action in creating meaningful change.

In 2024, South Haven LGBTQ+ Advocacy was formally established as a nonprofit organization. Trent Morgan serves as Founder and Board President, joined by Founding Board Members Gail Donnelly Bader and Dr. Beth Herbel-Eisenmann, with Blanca Hinojosa as Executive Director. The organization’s mission is “to advocate for and protect the South Haven Area LGBTQ+ community by raising awareness, increasing visibility, and creating affirming safe spaces for LGBTQ+ people.”

Today, South Haven LGBTQ+ Advocacy continues to grow, with several standing committees and active community engagement. The organization hosts educational initiatives, advocacy efforts, and community-building events, culminating each year with South Haven Pride on the last Saturday of June, a celebration of progress and a commitment to continued equality and inclusion.
