She studied dance and was a principal dancer with the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet Company. She also started hand quilting at a young age and was quilting for over 20 years before she purchased a long arm quilting machine and started her business 26 years ago. Deloa has written five books on quilting and has taught all over the United States\, and in Canada and England. She moved to South Haven 30 years ago and continues her business that includes a retreat center for quilters and crafters alike.
