SUMMARY:Cybersecurity for Government Contractors
DESCRIPTION:PTACs of Michigan is co-hosting a Cybersecurity event to be held on May 10th with MMTC\, SBDC\, and MEDC. Please consider sharing the following information with your partners and clients. All companies in Michigan are invited to attend.\n\n\n\nSubject: Companies are to Meet New Cybersecurity Regulations Or Possibly Lose Government Contracts\n\n\n\nDoes your business value the revenue you earn from government contracts?\n\n \n\nExperts say that most Michigan companies who do might find themselves in a bit of a time crunch when it comes to cybersecurity compliance this year.\n\n \n\n"I think the important part is people need to get moving\," said Elliot Forsyth\, vice president of business operations at the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (MMTC). "The typical engagement for companies\, assuming they're starting from little to nothing\, is six to nine months. We're running out of time. My sense is there's the majority of companies that do not meet this regulation."\n\n \n\nWhat does this mean for you?\n\nIf you do business with the Department of Defense (DoD)\, General Services Administration (GSA)\, or National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) as a prime OR subcontractor\, you must be compliant with defined cybersecurity requirements no later than December 31\, 2017. Failure to comply with could result in the loss of a federal contract or prevent a new contract from being awarded.\n\nTo increase the strength of security measures and access controls guarding unclassified DoD information within contractor information systems\, the DoD has mandated compliance with cybersecurity standards outlined in NIST Special Publication 800-171.\n\nLet us help you understand what will be expected of your business.\n\nThis event will feature guest speakers like Elliot Forsythe who will explain the requirements\, the consequences of not complying\, and the steps necessary to determine and achieve compliance. Breakout sessions will address specific topics:\n\n Cyber Security & Contracting\n\n Monitoring & Reporting\n\n Protecting Your Business from Cyber Threats\n\n Personnel & Physical Protection\n\n Outdated Use of Technology - New Requirements\n\nThis event is FREE\, but registration is required.\n\nQuestions?
