DESCRIPTION:The Michigan Maritime Museum invites the public to a special theatrical event on Friday\, October 10 at 6:00 p.m. with the preview performance of Dan Seavey: Confessions of a Great Lakes Pirate\, a one-man play written and performed by actor\, musician\, and tall ship sailor Tom Kastle and directed by Francisco Torres.\n\nThis engaging production explores the extraordinary and infamous life of Dan Seavey (1865 1949)\, often regarded as the Great Lakes pirate. Seavey was a lumberman\, businessman\, Klondike gold miner\, Navy veteran\, saloon keeper\, sailor\, bootlegger\, lawman\, and more. But his most notorious title was that of Pirate.\n\nWith humor\, grit\, and reflection\, Kastle brings Seavey to life as a complex figure: charming yet flawed\, mischievous yet magnetic. The result is a performance that asks audiences to question whether they should cheer for\, or fear\, the pirate of the inland seas.\n\nKastle\, well known for his maritime music and storytelling\, has sailed tall ships around the world\, including serving as Relief Captain (2006) and Captain (2007) of the Museum's own tall ship Friends Good Will. His career spans theater\, film\, and television\, including performances in Man of La Mancha\, Shakespeare\, God Help Us! with Ed Asner\, and an Emmy-nominated documentary on the Battle of Lake Erie.\n\nTickets are $10 for the general public and $5 for Museum Members. Seating is limited\, and advance reservations are encouraged.\n\nNote: This production is intended for adult and young adult audiences.
