DESCRIPTION:Frida...A Self Portrait\n\nVirtual Production of One-Woman Performance\n\nScheduled for Saturday\, July 11 -- It's FREE\n\n \n\nCOVID19 isn't stopping us!\n\nEnjoy Theatre from the Comfort of your Home  \n\n \n\nOn Saturday\, July 11\, at 5 p.m. EST\, the South Haven Center for the Arts - in collaboration with the South Haven Theatre Series - will present a virtual production of "Frida...A Self Portrait"\, a one-woman performance by award-winning actor and playwright Vanessa Severo\n\n\n\nThis free event is funded by the South Haven Community Foundation.\n\n\n\n"Set on the eve of Frida Kahlo's death\, the story plunges into the gorgeous\, nuanced world of Kahlo's tumultuous and brilliant life. Severo cracks open a powerful portal between herself and the artist\, offering breathtaking physicality and raw honesty in this theatrically stunning production."\n\n\n\nVanessa Severo has studied at Missouri State University\, as well as The American Conservatory Theatre\, San Francisco.  She is the recipient of the TCG 11th Round of the Fox Foundation resident Actor Fellowships\, 2017.  She has performed for the past 12 seasons at The Kansas City Repertory Theatre\, and is certified in Suzuki Method\, and Viewpoints under the instruction of Ellen Lauren\, SITI company. She is the playwright and actor of 'Frida...A Self Portrait' a one woman production about the  life of Frida Kahlo.  Vanessa is passionate about utilizing the element of Suzuki method in her work to challenge the boundaries of storytelling\, and explore the depths of movement\, composition\, and the power of stillness.\n\n\n\nDiana Densmore\, South Haven\, Michigan writer\, multimedia artist and filmmaker will facilitate the talk-back segment with Vanessa Severo after her 30 minute performance. Projects Diana Densmore has been involved in have screened across the globe\, from Beijing to the Cannes Short Film Corner. Her work experiences include independent feature-length films\, music videos\, commercials\, and studio television shows in a plethora positions from production assistant to background actress\, and production designer to producer. Some of her favorites were writer's room intern on the hit CBS series Criminal Minds\, wardrobe mistress for "Like Whoa" a music video featuring actor Shemar Moore\, and co-founder of Reel Lemonade Productions\, five year experiment in making extremely collaborative experimental short films. Diana holds her MFA in screenwriting from UCLA and her BA in Film & Video studies and Creative Writing from the University of Michigan. In addition\, she is currently studying Animation at Kalamazoo Valley.\n\n\n\nDuring the performance\, we invite you to enjoy your own Paloma\, known as the drink of the "working man" and a traditional Mexican drink. Frida was a supporter of the working men and women of Mexico. Gather your ingredients and mix your Paloma with Vanessa before the play!
