DESCRIPTION:The second concert of the season will feature the award-winning Axiom Brass Quintet on Friday\, June 24. Internationally recognized for their groundbreaking programming\, the quintet's repertoire ranges from jazz and Latin music to string quartet transcriptions\, as well as original compositions for brass quintet. In 2012 they became the first Brass Quintet to win the prestigious Chamber Music Yellow Springs (Ohio) Competition. That same year they became the first American ensemble to win the Preis der Europa-Stadt Passau in Germany. The quintet is familiar to western Michigan audiences having performed with the Grand Rapids Symphony in 2015.
