Presenter-Joel Stone
Through much of the nineteenth century, steam-powered ships provided one of the most reliable and comfortable transportation options in North America. The aesthetic, structural and commercial peak of the steamboat era occurred on the Great Lakes, where palatial ships created memories and livelihoods for millions.
This presentation explores the dynamic and elegant passenger steamship industry on the Great Lakes of North America from inception into the twenty first century, telling the story of a region, an era, and a lifestyle.
