Headquartered in South Haven, MI, US Tarp® designs, manufactures and distributes load containment and cargo protection tarping systems, controls, and tarps for commercial vehicle applications. The US Tarp® design team develops automated and manual systems for custom applications in the Construction & Landscaping, Agriculture, and the Recycling & Refuse markets. Our products are engineered to cover and contain bulk commodities such as sand, gravel, scrap metal, wood fibers, mulch, or chips and to cover and protect cargo such as asphalt and grain while in transit quickly and reliably. Our systems are used on commercial medium duty trucks, heavy duty tractor trailers, dump trucks and roll-off container handling equipment. US Tarp® systems protect cargo, the motoring public and drivers while providing safe, reliable, and efficient solutions for fleets and municipalities.

We are currently seeking an experienced Staff Accountant! This position will report directly to and work closely with the Vice President & Controller. We are looking for an individual who is self-motivated, eager to learn and is willing to adapt as our business matures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Analyzes, verifies, and posts transactions to journals, general ledgers, and other records
• Analyzes inputs, investigates, and corrects accounting entries as needed
• Participates in month-end, quarter-end and year-end general ledger closing cycle and financial statement preparation and account reconciliations
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting
• Maintains clear and accurate records
• Maintains and posts month end journal entries
• Balances and reconciles accounts as required
• Maintains fixed assets & depreciation schedules
• Prepares schedules and reports for year-end audit and any other audits during the year
• Assist in automating processes and procedures
• Organize work and set priorities to meet deadlines and working within prescribed time constraints
• Assist Controller with special projects
• Analyzes financial and non-financial information to identify trends or concerns, providing information to leadership to improve present and future financial performance
• Reviews, investigates, documents, and assists in the implementation of accounting systems and internal control procedures
• Works with outside accounting firm on year-end tax filings
• Prepares and presents financial information to upper management as requested
• Provides information to and works with auditors
• Cross train and provide backup for other departmental roles
• Other related duties as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or 3+ years’ relevant work experience
• Experience using ERP software, Oracle NetSuite preferred
• Manufacturing accounting experience strongly preferred
• Strong attention to detail while prioritizing and  managing changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Team Oriented
• Expert-Level Microsoft Office skills – Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point
• Must be detail oriented and organized
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
