The South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce was pleased to welcome new member Lake Michigan Credit Union- Mortgage with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, February 6th.
Lake Michigan Credit Union traces its roots to Grand Rapids Teachers Credit Union, which was formed in the 1930s. After decades of growth and mergers, the Lake Michigan Credit Union name was adopted in 2002, and LMCU is now recognized as the largest financial institution headquartered in West Michigan. LMCU has 53 branch locations in Michigan and Florida, and boasts a 95% customer approval rating.
Lake Michigan Credit Union decided to venture into the South Haven market, and opened an office at 410 Eagle St. downtown in November of 2018. Though initially they are specializing in only mortgages at this location, their goal is to expand services to include consumer banking in South Haven in the future. During the winter season, the Mortgage Office is open 5 days a week, and will expand to include Saturdays during the summer.
