The South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce was pleased to welcome new member Marro’s Italian Restaurant with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, July 11th.
Marro’s Italian Restaurant is a family-owned eatery at the corner of Water St. and Mason St. in Saugatuck. Frank Marro opened the restaurant 47 years ago. He and his wife Lyn are still heavily involved in the business and are now joined by their children and grandchildren.
Marro’s is probably best known for their pizza, but also offers a variety of Italian favorites such as lasagna, pasta and seafood. When asked what has changed over the years, Marro said without a pause “the people, for sure. When we started it was all bikers, now it’s almost all families. But our menu has stayed more or less the same over the years.”
The beautiful outdoor patio is the perfect place to sip a cocktail and enjoy an appetizer, and by this time next year, will be a full-service extension of the restaurant. Inside, the comfortable, spacious interior is punctuated by a one-of-a-kind twinkling bar, which has delighted guests for over 20 years.
