The South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce welcomed new member, Rush Lake Memories with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, September 26th, 2017.
Rush Lake Memories is an event venue located on a 68 acre farm in Hartford, which has been owned by the Heater family for more than 50 years. Mike Heater and his mother Sue have developed Rush Lake Memories into an affordable venue for wedding ceremonies and receptions.
The Heaters began hosting weddings on their family property in 2015 when Mike’s daughter got married there. Since that first event they have been adding new features, upgrading the facilities and enhancing the indoor and outdoor spaces to continuously improve the venue. In addition to the 3,000 square foot barn that can seat up to 250 people, there is an outdoor ceremony space, a separate catering building, and a changing/dressing area for the wedding party. Some newer features include a covered patio area, several photo vignettes and other thoughtful touches throughout the charming grounds.
“We don’t want to nickel and dime people,” Heater says, “so many wedding venues add on fees for every little thing, and we didn’t want to do that.” Packages at Rush Lake Memories automatically include things like use of the facilities for rehearsal day, tables & chairs and all basic amenities. While a number of upgrade options are available, the Heaters wanted to make it easy for their clients to understand what to expect, and to not have to blow out their budget in order to have a really nice event. And the response from clients has been incredibly positive. Rush Lake Memories earned the “Couples’ Choice Award” from WeddingWire.com, and boasts a straight 5-star rating on that site based on 17 customer reviews.
