The South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce Celebrates New Member

South Haven Dragon Boat Association

South Haven, MI – May 7, 2024 - The South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce was pleased to welcome new Chamber member South Haven Dragon Boat Association with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The South Haven Dragon Boat Association is a fairly new club. The 501c3 began just 2 years ago, in 2022, and though it is separate from South Haven’s Harborfest, they are the ones running the dragon boat races for the event.

The South Haven Dragon Boat Association is comprised of a committee of 7, many with over 25 years of experience in dragon boat racing while many others have about 10 years’ experience. They are also happy to train anyone interested in learning. “We promote friendship through paddling.” Says Deb Myers, Treasurer for the Association. “We meet two Sundays per month for a social paddle.”

The group welcome everyone ages 14 and up from all walks of life. Equipment is provided, individuals just need to show up and learn to have fun! “We are very excited to meet new people and to see the returning folks who share our love for dragon boat racing.” Says Myers. The group meets rain or shine, never in storms, and are even known to paddle in the early spring snow!

The South Haven Dragon Boat Association is an affiliate of the American Dragon Boat Association.
