• South Haven Area Recreational Authority (SHARA)

  • The South Haven Area Recreation Authority (SHARA) is the driving force behind the acquisition, development, and upkeep of parks and recreational spaces throughout our region. SHARA’s work spans everything from planning and construction to ongoing maintenance and facility enhancements.

Before any new park or amenity move forward, SHARA collaborates closely with the facility’s municipal jurisdiction, its ownership, and the SHARA Board of Directors to ensure community oversight and stewardship.

    Board & Partnerships
SHARA’s governance is rooted in local collaboration, with board members representing the City of South Haven, South Haven Charter Township, South Haven Public Schools, and Visit South Haven.

    Investment & Impact
By investing more than $240,000 of its own funding, SHARA has successfully leveraged approximately $5.8 million from grants and partnerships, a return of roughly $24 for every dollar it contributes. These capital efforts boost property values, draw tourism, support recreation-related jobs, and enhance physical well‑being while knitting the social fabric of our community.
