    Job Purpose:

    The Cartoon Café Supervisor is responsible for assisting in preparation and distribution of a quality food product, ensuring proper service, comfort, and safety to all guests, maintaining outstanding customer service as per our Core Values, processing sales quickly, accurately, and efficiently, cash register operations and safeguarding company assets. Maintain exact standards of sanitation and safety. All while administering a food service program that is in accordance with policies and procedures set forth by South Haven Jellystone Park™, and federal/state requirements. You will be helping train the food service team members.


    Some specific job duties may include:

    • Demonstration of a positive attitude with guests and team members.
    • Provide superior guest service over the telephone and in person, by being enthusiastic, attentive, friendly and helpful.
      • Learn the reservation system and assist with answering the phones and making reservations and bear appearances.
    • Assists in maintaining an efficient food service operation and supervising team members.
      • Supervising of Café Team Members. Supervising duties including but not limited to interviewing, scheduling, teaching skills needed within department, providing on going guest services training, evaluating performance, offering corrective teaching (re-training) when needed.
    • Assist with overseeing of the ordering and controls on all food products.
    • Assist with monitoring supply and inventory levels to provide the manager with possible special promotion ideas and ensure items remain stocked.
    • Assist with handling and enforcing daily, weekly, and monthly scheduled stocking and proper opening, closing, and throughout the day cleaning procedures, including cleaning at the end of the night.
    • Taking orders, handling money through point of sale system.
    • Take all necessary security precautions to ensure that cash and credit cards are held in a safe and secure manner.
    • Ensure that established sanitation and safety standards are maintained.
    • Comply with safety, health and hygiene policies and procedures.
    • Preparing and serving food.
      • Operating conveyor pizza oven, fryers, microwave, ice cream machine, smoothie machine, espresso machine, warmers, and any other equipment used in the process of making the necessary food items.
      • Prepare and serve ice cream, baked goods, and food for guests.
    • Must be able to be trained in proper food handling techniques.
    • Routine cleaning of equipment.
    • Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas as well as overall kitchen and food preparation areas
    • May be asked to do Supervisor on Duty tasks.
      • Cash drawers at end of day are counted down to specified amount by team members.
      • Maintain accurate financial records of cash collected, carrying out regular balances of transactions and resolving any discrepancies.
      • Answer staff questions throughout the entire park and handle any guest issues and concerns.
    • Reinforce policies, goals, objectives, and procedures for their department.

    • Certified in Food Safety- preferred.
    • Considerable knowledge of quantity food production and serving techniques, food safety/sanitation requirements and procedures.
    • Knowledge of foodservice program requirements.
    • Visual acuity to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned and determine safety of workplace surroundings (kitchen, storage, guests etc.).
    • Possess excellent organization and project management skills, leadership skills and the ability to manage and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team leader, which includes motivating and supervising foodservice team members.
    • Effectively handle stressful periods of peak activity.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through both verbal and written venues.
    • Upbeat, engaging personality, strong work ethic, and professional appearance
    • Possess excellent customer service, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Basic math skills for careful and accurate money handling.
    • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Capable of working independently and as part of a team
    • Possess exceptional guest relations skills.
    • Weekend & Evening hours are required.


    Physical Demands:

    Café Supervisor is regularly required to stand for extended periods, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Constant use of hands and arms to input data into computer, scoop ice cream, and prepare food. Must be able to move boxes of stock from freezer or cooler to kitchen area and must be able to squat and stoop to retrieve low boxes or supplies. Must be able to converse directly with guests. All team members may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions (hot and humid, rainy, extreme temperatures, airborne particles) as well as warm indoor conditions due to large equipment putting off a lot of heat in kitchen.
