However, our duty as healthcare providers in this time of crisis is to support the system as best we can. Therefore, we are asking any patient who feels an adjustment or series of adjustments will keep them from seeking care in the ER, Urgent Care or from taking opiods, call or text our office to discuss their symptoms and schedule an appointment. We are following all of the CDC’s procedures and guidelines for screening and sanitation and will be only seeing one patient in the building at a time. Since my clients are in the restaurant and hotel industries, they are caught in the crossfire of this terrible situation. It has been heartbreaking to hear about the millions of people in foodservice and lodging being furloughed or losing their jobs all across the country. Through the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Trainers (CHART) non-profit association, I am working on proactive crisis communication with hospitality training and human resources professionals – helping them access online resources, discussion groups where they can ask their peers for solutions, effective distance education strategies, and social channels to keep them connected. We are also offering Virtual Meetings so they can discuss these crucial topics in small groups: Furloughs, Layoffs and RIFs, Dining Room Closures/Curbside Pickup/Delivery, and Combining Jobs to Save Payroll Dollars. A thoughtful and proactive approach by hospitality trainers can help keep employees and customers safe, and assisting in those efforts is where I am putting my energy right now. Wishing you good health, everyone!
