Thursday, May 1, 2014 marks the 63rd Annual National Day of Prayer and will be celebrated locally at Dyckman Park, Phoenix St. across from South Haven City Hall, from 12:20pm to 12:45pm. This year's theme is "One Voice United in Prayer" and is taken from Romans 15:6 "so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."
All citizens of South Haven and its surrounding areas are welcome to gather and offer prayers for our government, country, military, youth, family, media, churches and businesses. Local clergy, schools and public officials are involved in the program. In the event of rain, the program will be moved into the City Hall Chambers.
The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
