South Haven Performance Series Opens Season with Gilmore Young Artist
On Friday evening, April 27, 2018, Wei Luo, a Gilmore Young Artist pianist, will enthrall listeners in the South Haven area with her powerful piano proficiency. This concert, to be held in the First United Methodist Church at 7:30 PM, is the initial event in the 2018 South Haven Performance Series. For the fourth season, the South Haven group is partnering with the Gilmore International Keyboard Festival.
Born in Shenzhen, China, Wei Luo began piano lessons at age five and gave her debut recital in Hong Kong at age six. Winner of numerous competitions in China, Luo also claimed first prize in the 11th Chopin International Competition for Young Pianists in Poland and the 2nd Rachmaninov International Piano Competition for Young Pianists in Frankfurt, both in 2010.
She also made her orchestral debut with the Shanghai Philharmonic in 2010.
In 2012, Wei Luo was accepted to the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music, where she currently studies with Gary Graffman and Robert McDonald. She was selected to perform in the Dean’s Honors recital at Curtis in 2014.
