Did you know that over 22 MILLION pounds of plastic end up in the Great Lakes each year? Or that it never goes away but just breaks down into smaller and smaller particles called microplastics that accumulate in the environment? Two Rivers Coalition (TRC) is excited to announce that it will host a free on-line presentation about this important topic on Tuesday March 23 at 7:00 p.m. TRC is teaming up with a speaker from the Alliance for the Great Lakes for this presentation which will include the following topics: the importance of the Great Lakes ecosystem, the threat of plastic pollution (including microplastics) to the Great Lakes, and actions we can take to address plastic pollution.

TRC is a volunteer environmental group active in SW Michigan and focused on the water quality and overall environmental health of the Black River and Paw Paw River watersheds. TRC conducts activities for volunteers such as stream monitoring for macroinvertebrates in the Spring and Fall every year. TRC also conducts annual E. coli testing of streams in both watersheds. TRC also sponsors paddles and other activities to introduce people to the beauty and importance of our streams, wetlands, and floodplain environments.
