    Dockhands The Michigan Maritime Museum is seeking punctual, friendly, and dependable individuals to serve as Dockhands. The primary function of this position is to support dock operations and packaged ice cream sales while assisting captains and staff crew in maintaining a welcoming and safe waterfront environment. This role is well suited for individuals entering the workforce or those interested in maritime operations who enjoy working independently, interacting with guests, and being part of an active waterfront setting. Responsibilities include: ● Selling pre-packaged ice cream to guests ● Assisting with incoming and outgoing museum vessels ● Handling dock lines under crew direction ● Keeping dock and waterfront areas clean and orderly ● Assisting with basic cleaning and upkeep of historic and replica vessels ● Answering guest questions about the Museum and On-Water Fleet ● Supporting daily dock operations as needed ● Other duties as assigned All ice cream served is pre-packaged. No scooping, food service experience, or safe serve certification is required. Reliability, punctuality, a friendly and welcoming demeanor, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are essential for this position. Ability to work outside and lift up to 30lbs required. This is a seasonal, part-time position running May through September. Availability on weekends, weekdays, and occasional evenings and holidays is required. Applicants must be at least 15 years of age. A school work permit is required for minors.
